2. Best Bargain – Parasol Protectorate series


I’ve only just embarked on these wonderful, ridiculous novels and they’re as good a bargain as you could ever hope for – 10p per glowing tome. This was at the closing of our local Works, me gleefully picking its carcass clean and returning home with rucksacks of books.

Also in the running: most other Works finds, most recently Mayhem by Sarah Pinborough and The Shining Girls by Lauren Beukes. I do also have a copy of China Mievelle’s The City and the City that someone had left behind on the Eurostar.
